Ponkapoag Golf Club
A neglected Donald Ross Gem Shines Again

 

 

  Ponkapoag Golf Course in Canton, Massachusetts was lampooned in a 1988 Sports Illustrated piece, branding the facility as the “worst municipal golf course in America.”

 Depending on who you talk to, Ponkapoag’s history dates as far back as 1925, but most agree it was 1933 when famed golf course architect Donald Ross put pen to paper designing the first 18 holes of ‘Ponky’.
