Somewhere over the Rainbow Island of Maui, the sun shines down on a Garden of Eden that is The Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay in Hawaii. The changing hues are mysteriously inviting as the Expedition ferry from Maui carries you there, whales breaching along the way. At the colorful harbor dock, the Four Seasons’ staff greets “Aloha,” and whisks you into a luxury SUV, delivering you to a most special place just a few minutes away.

Through the open lobby a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean smacks your senses. You are guided to your room along a path of tropical tendrils of blooms – orchids, lilies, and the shave brush tree that looks like a flower from Avatar. Water laps down the falls, and birds sing.

Birdies are possible on the Manele Golf Course if you are not distracted by the magnificent views. Jack Nicklaus must have been giddy by this design opportunity. The course is an island climb of prime vantage points rising and falling with the hilly terrain creating blind spots on holes. The views are blinding enough with the Pacific seen from every hole. The 19th is in fact named Views with exquisite food as in all the restaurants. Bill and Melinda Gates chose the 12th tee box for their matrimonial site and recently returned to renew their vows after 20 years. Manele Bay delivers magical moments for all.

Accommodations are comfy and high tech starting with Larry the Lid. Who names their commode? When the lid pops up as you enter the bathroom and a panel of buttons assists with hygienic amazements, you can’t help talking to it. It is a combo bidet – power it up if you dare. It is also where being on the hot seat is a good thing. Yes, the seat is warmed.

An iPad by the bed provides info on all the restaurants, activities and even has a dolphin app to advise you when the Spinner dolphins are giving their natural show in the bay. The Holo’poe Bay is actually an archeological site and a marine preserve. Coral ravines in the rocky cove and so much fish action make this the Grand Canyon of snorkeling.
The Four Seasons will put a lump in your throat, take your breath away and fill you with peace and gratitude. And yet, they have been closed for a multi million-dollar transformation.  While the golf course has remained open for daytime excursions, luxury vacationers are highly anticipating the reopening of the Four Seasons. How can it be any better we want to know? Reservations are now being taken for February 1st and beyond. MAHALO. Click here to make your reservation today!
