Will Justin Thomas Cap this Year off with a Huge Pay Day?
The past couple weeks have been all about Justin Thomas. The kid is tearing up the PGA Tour right now and he is only 25. But the crazy part is, he may not even win the Fed Ex Playoffs, a million-dollar purse.
Although Justin Thomas may be the consensus player of the year, playoffs are a whole different ball game.
Yes, he won last week in Boston to leap up the leaderboard to second. But the thing about the playoffs is you have to be consistent. Kind of like the buy sitting in first, Jordan Spieth. Who has gone second and second in the first two playoffs events.
Although he won, Thomas finished T6 at the Northern Trust Open. I am not putting that down in any way. But it’s logic.
Two second place finishes, points wise is better than a first and T6.
The next two events are the BMW Championship at Conway Farms and the Tour Championship at East Lake.
Here is Thomas’s past performances at these tracks:
- Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois he played in 2015 and finished T13 at -11.
- East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, he has played well finishing T6 last season.
With those results at the upcoming courses it seems like Thomas is prone for a couple great outings in the next couple weeks.
The thing is though, he does not control his own destiny. He could play well both events, but Spieth could edge him in one and be the same score the next and still win. If Thomas wants that fat pay day, he better be pin seeking all week because Spieth is not letting up.
It is the playoffs.
